AAGPS Sports Update – 14 October 2020
The AAGPS Chairman, Mr Mark Ticehurst, in consultation with the GPS Headmasters’ Standing Committee, wishes to provide the following update regarding GPS sporting programmes in 2020:
In light of the NSW Health correspondence “Minimising Risk of COVID-19 Transmission: Updated Advice for NSW School Communities and Community Sports Organisations”, dated 24 September 2020, the GPS Headmasters’ Standing Committee is pleased to announce that a limited number of spectators will be permitted to attend summer sporting fixtures which commence on Saturday 17 October.
Spectators must register their attendance at fixtures, and restrictions on the number of spectators permitted will vary between outdoor and indoor venues and individual school facility capacities. Please refer to individual schools for advice of upcoming fixtures and the relevant restrictions in place. Attendance at fixtures will adhere to the updated AAGPS COVID-19 Safety Plan, ensuring 1.5m distance between people not from the same household, and the minimising of gatherings before and after fixtures. Participants and spectators must leave venues upon the completion of fixtures.
The AAGPS acknowledges that advice and the current situation has, and will continue to change rapidly. As the situation evolves, the AAGPS will continue to monitor, and act accordingly throughout the remainder of 2020.
