AAGPS Sports Update – 28 January 2021

The AAGPS Chairman, Mr Mark Ticehurst, in consultation with the GPS Headmasters’ Standing Committee, wishes to provide the following update regarding GPS sporting programmes in 2021:

AAGPS summer sporting fixtures will recommence this Saturday 30 January 2021. The Rashke Cup and Yeend Shield Basketball competitions for all 1st and 2nd Grade teams will be held at the Shore School. A limit of two spectators per athlete is permitted. Spectators must vacate the venue at the completion of matches to allow access to spectators for the following match.

The allowance of spectators at all other summer sporting fixtures will remain the responsibility of individual member schools and will vary between indoor and outdoor venues and individual school facility capacities. Please refer to individual schools for advice of upcoming fixtures and the relevant restrictions in place. Attendance at fixtures will adhere to the updated AAGPS COVID-19 Safety Plan, ensuring 1.5m distance between people not from the same household, and the minimising of gatherings before and after fixtures. Participants and spectators must leave venues at the completion of matches.

The AAGPS acknowledges that advice and the current situation has, and will continue to change rapidly. As the situation evolves, the AAGPS will continue to monitor, and act accordingly throughout the remainder of 2021.
