AAGPS Sports Update – 18 NOVEMBER 2020

The AAGPS Chairman, Mr Mark Ticehurst, in consultation with the GPS Headmasters’ Standing Committee, wishes to provide the following update regarding GPS sporting programmes in 2020:

Due to ongoing NSW Government and Health restrictions for school and community sport events, and in the best interests of the health and wellbeing of students and staff, the AAGPS Convenors Swimming Invitational being held on Friday 20 November at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, and the St. Joseph’s College Regatta being held on Saturday 21 November at Sydney International Regatta Centre will be closed to spectators. Both of these events will be streamed and available via www.cluch.tv,  www.bit.ly/cluch-ios,  www.bit.ly/cluch-android.  It is also able to be viewed on Apple TV and Android TV. The final timings of broadcasts will be available on platforms, please follow relevant login instructions to register.

The allowance of spectators at all other summer sporting fixtures will remain the responsibility of individual member schools and will vary between indoor and outdoor venues and individual school facility capacities. Please refer to individual schools for advice of upcoming fixtures and the relevant restrictions in place. Attendance at fixtures will adhere to the updated AAGPS COVID-19 Safety Plan, ensuring 1.5m distance between people not from the same household, and the minimising of gatherings before and after fixtures. Participants and spectators must leave venues upon the completion of fixtures.

The AAGPS acknowledges that advice and the current situation has, and will continue to change rapidly. As the situation evolves, the AAGPS will continue to monitor, and act accordingly throughout the remainder of 2020.
